This is another moodboard which is focusing on proportion, shape, size, colour, patterns and styles. Also it will help build a visual image of the things I can apply to my design. Knowing the parts which build a guitar, I will be doing further research. I like how the design on the guitar because it creates character and its own style. As you can see each guitar has its own unique texture. I prefer the fusion colour with a black outline rather than the one with complex texture on the top-right corner of the "moodboard". The colours are moslty alined with the colour black.
As you can also see, what each section of the guitar is called; I will do some continious research into each portions to gather a range of information.

Guitar Moodboard #1
This is my Guitar Moodboard for generating ideas as well gathering certain bits that I can apply when Im doing my initial design. Guitars come in many forms and styles. I will do some further research on certain aspects of the guitar which will then help me deicde which is suitable for my design.

Mind Map
This is my mind map based on musical instruments. From this I know that most instruments fall in the same category. But I prefer looking into guitars as I have one at home and is my biggest interest of playing it in my spare time. For each instrument, I have worte simularities that come under these instruments; texture, colour and shape.

Section 1:
Review (Approx 150 words)
|
|
I have learnt the
basic skills of Photoshop brushes and tools to create iconic concepts
drawings and illustrations.
Photoshop
-
Brushes – using various flat and light brushes to blend and
shade using colour pallet.
- Selection Tools – creating a selection on the canvas, without
affecting the rest of the image.
- Layers – using this to eliminate certain action and stop
overriding. Creating foreground and background. Keeps parts separate of your
project and organised.
- Blending Modes – giving the picture a way to blend in
effect.
- Transform Tools – manipulate and resize the image.
- Masking – editing specific areas and isolating portion of
an image.
- Image Adjustments
- Filters
Each of these skills
I have used to perform tasks, design, concepts and other types of
experiments. I have made character design using these tools and improved my
skills vastly. The colours and tone I have been able to amend in my developed
drawings.
3D Maya
- Modelling – use meshes to create shapes, design.
- Texturing – create texture to apply on the model.
- Animations – use frames to create movements.
Drawing
- Able to draw at any perspective when doing observational
drawings.
- Light and dark tone to an object
- Contour line and shading where necessary.
Using Maya I have
skill to model basic shapes and item and able to UV map them to texturize
them in Photoshop. I also have basic grasp on how to animate using the
timeline.
Photoshop
I plan to develop my
UV texturing skills and creating my very own textures which I can then apply
them to my project. This will develop my skills to wards my future goals in
game design as I plan to do further education at university and when I would
want to apply for a texture artist job. This project would help revisit
existing Photoshop tools which I have previous knowledge and help become more
stable in my creative skills; through this I believe I will develop much
fluent textures and design to a good standard in the games industry. This
project is building and helping me to exceed towards my 5 year plan.
Maya
Doing this it has
been a great experience as I did a couple of fascinating experiment which has
made me feel more confident from my last encounter of creating textures. This
will be very useful when I come to apply for jobs near the future. The more
knowledge gained from Photoshop helps improve my skillset aiming to become a
professional.
My project goal is
to create a fully textured, 3D guitar model made in Maya and Photoshop and
imported in the unreal engine; game ready.
I have created a
schedule to balance my time and progression. I also use orthographies from
drawing on paper to use in Maya as guidelines.

Section 2:
Project Concept (approx 250 words)
|
|
The title of my project is called 3D Art
Model. In this project I will be working towards producing a detailed guitar
model using 3D Maya. This relates to my work and idea as I have yet to
explore my skillset and knowledge of Maya. I want to get a better
understanding of what else the software offers so I can expand my creative
abilities. If I have managed to finish before the deadline time then perhaps I
may also do a Photoshop concept. I will create a progression log that will
enable to keep track of what tasks I have done and any changes throughout the
project. I had a range of instruments to choose from such a trumpet, piano,
violin or clarinet but the reason I chose to model a guitar was the fact I
personally had one myself which I could have easy access to.
I will be using the
internet to gather secondary sources which will consist of any videos that
may be inspiring or tutorial purposes. For my primary research I may either
visit a store which contains guitars which I can take pictures as well as my
own. I will research on 3D model artists to get more inspiration and if I
have any time remaining I will try to implement their style. My research will
consist of different guitar models so it allows me to alternative styles,
textures, shapes and colour.
If I have time remaining,
then intend to do some character research as well as artist inspirations.
This is some of the artists I
have looked into for inspirations and what my idea is based on.

Section 3:
Evaluation (approx 100 words)
|
|
I will using my own personal chart to keep
in check whether I have achieved my deadline date while the e-blog will show
what work has been checked. This will allow me to analyse what things are
missing and where I can improve. Also I intend to get feedback/opinions of
class pupils and lectures which I will write in the blog so I can bear it in
mind. This will be a critical/feedback response on the ideas. I will follow
through on each stage making sure I receive feedback each step.
